Vintage Kad-Yad Israel Model 120 Sculptural Ceramic Vase A wonderfully distinctive piece of vintage Israeli art pottery by Kad-Yad, dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. This is the documented Model 120 – an unusual architectural form with a flattened, tapering body, large pierced oval opening and deeply incised cross-hatched geometric decoration. The glaze is particularly striking, graduating through warm earthy brown, cream and off-white tones and pooling beautifully within the textured surface. It has a strong Brutalist / Mid-Century Modern character and works as much as a piece of ceramic sculpture as it does a vase. The underside carries the model number 120, and importantly the original KAD-YAD ISRAEL paper label is still present. An excellent statement piece for a collection of Israeli ceramics, Mid-Century Modern pottery, Brutalist interiors or 1960s/70s studio ceramics. ABOUT KAD-YAD Kad-Yad was an Israeli art pottery associated particularly with the distinctive modernist ceramics produced in Israel during the 1960s and 1970s. Its work includes highly textured and sculptural vessels combining bold geometric forms with earthy glazes and decorative surface treatments. Kad-Yad pieces were produced in a variety of numbered forms, with Model 120 being this particularly unusual pierced, architectural design. Today the pottery is increasingly sought by collectors of Israeli design and Mid-Century Modern ceramics. A genuinely unusual vintage ceramic – sculptural, graphic and very evocative of the experimental pottery design of the period. Carefully packed for posting.
