  • Vintage Celtic Pottery Cornwall Vase – Newlyn Studio Ceramic with Abstract Brown & Black Glaze

  • £35.00

:  at  £35.00  each

A striking vintage Celtic Pottery vase from Cornwall, with a wonderfully graphic glaze that feels every bit as good today as it would have when it was made. The tall cylindrical form combines a deep charcoal-black lower section with a richly glazed upper body. Branching lines in warm amber and dark brown run through a finely speckled ground with subtle blue-green tones, giving the decoration an almost abstract woodland quality. A glossy amber band separates the two finishes beautifully. Celtic Pottery was established in Newlyn, Cornwall in the early 1960s by Bill and Maggie Fisher. The pottery became known for its distinctive hand-decorated wares and experimental surface treatments, producing some of the most recognisable Cornish ceramics of the period. Their pieces are increasingly sought after by collectors of British studio and mid-century pottery. A particularly strong decorative piece that would sit comfortably in a modern, mid-century or eclectic interior.
