:  at  £110.00  each

A wonderfully unusual vintage Bristow Pottery of Malta ceramic model of an early Coca-Cola delivery truck. Handmade in Malta and clearly incised “BRISTOW MALTA” to the base, this is a fabulous and highly unusual piece of studio pottery combining Maltese ceramics with one of the most recognisable names in vintage advertising. The model depicts an early Coca-Cola delivery lorry, with the famous Coca-Cola script rendered in raised white slip decoration on the sides. Earthy stoneware tones of cream, brown and muted green give it a wonderfully characterful handmade appearance. Details include individually modelled wheels, open cab windows, bonnet and radiator detailing and hand-applied decoration. The slight irregularities are part of its appeal and make it very obviously a piece of individually worked pottery rather than a mass-produced model. It is a particularly interesting collectable because it crosses several fields: Bristow and Maltese pottery, Coca-Cola memorabilia, vintage advertising, model vehicles and studio ceramics. The underside is clearly hand-incised “BRISTOW MALTA”, together with an additional incised number/mark. A fantastic conversation piece and one I have struggled to find another example of. Please study the photographs carefully, including the photograph of the signed base, as these form part of the description. Dimensions:23 cm long 8.5 cm high Condition: excellent no chips or scratches
