A beautiful original floral watercolour by Devon artist and designer Penny Silverthorne, depicting a loose arrangement of white daisies in a simple glass jug. This is an original hand-painted watercolour, not a print or reproduction, and is signed by the artist. ABOUT THE ARTIST Penny Silverthorne is a Devon-based British artist and designer particularly known for her delicate botanical and floral work. After studying at Lincoln and Birmingham Schools of Art, she established Silverthorne Designs in 1987. Her artwork has subsequently appeared across a wide range of commercial design work, with clients including Laura Ashley, Dunoon Ceramics and Charles Salmon. This original watercolour shows exactly why her botanical work has proved so enduring. The flowers are painted freely rather than rigidly, with soft washes of green, yellow and blue giving the piece a wonderfully fresh, light quality. The simple glass jug and scattered daisies give it an informal English country feel without becoming overly traditional or twee. The painting retains its vintage frame and mount and carries an original label from The Tavistock Picture Framing Company, Devon, to the reverse – a lovely piece of local provenance for a work by a Devon artist. CONDITION The original watercolour itself presents beautifully. Please study the photographs carefully for the condition of the vintage frame, mount and backing, which have been left as found.
