A spectacular large vintage art glass vase with real presence. Standing approximately 35 cm tall, this is a substantial and surprisingly heavy piece of decorative glass, with an unusual architectural form and dramatic combination of deep amethyst purple, clear glass and an almost black pedestal base. The vase has a long tapering purple body which opens into an exceptionally wide, flattened flared rim. Below, a clear glass section separates the body from the dark rounded knop and broad trumpet-shaped foot. The contrast between the translucent purple glass and glossy dark base gives the piece a wonderfully sculptural quality. It is the sheer scale and shape that make this vase particularly striking. At 35 cm tall and approximately 16 cm across the widest point, it works beautifully as a standalone statement piece rather than needing flowers or additional decoration. The maker is currently unidentified. I have therefore chosen not to attribute it to a particular glassworks without firm evidence. Its bold proportions and strong decorative design are typical of the kind of art glass produced for statement interiors during the later 20th century. A fabulous piece for a collector of vintage art glass, or for a contemporary interior where its rich purple colouring and dramatic silhouette can really stand out. MEASUREMENTS Approx. 35 cm high Approx. 16 cm wide at the widest point CONDITION Very good vintage condition. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. The vase will be very carefully packed for shipping due to its size and weight. Vintage items will naturally show signs of age and previous use, which form part of their character.
